The hack of Pokemon Go in the LA area has taken on a whole new meaning.
On Friday, the game’s developer, Niantic Labs, said the app had crashed after players were forced to manually log out.
The app was hacked on July 8, but the game was patched the next day and a few hours later, Niconico, the Japanese-language version of YouTube, said it had also seen a similar crash.
The game was later restored on July 10, but it wasn’t until Wednesday that it was officially updated with a fix.
The game has since been patched and the developers are investigating whether it is still running after players reset the game.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a tweet on Friday that they were working with the game developer to determine what happened.
They said it was a simple bug, but said the LAPD and other local law enforcement agencies are working to prevent similar issues from happening in the future.
